Our History

In July 2023, a group of visionary individuals came together with a shared concern and a common goal: the future of Kenya’s youth and the untapped potential within the agricultural sector. With the landscape rife with challenges—youth unemployment soaring, traditional farming methods proving unsustainable, and the promise of agribusiness remaining largely unrealized, Action was paramount.

The seeds of Grow Africa Futures were sown during late-night discussions, fueled by a passion for transformative change and a deep understanding of the critical role the youth could play in reshaping the nation’s agricultural destiny. It was in these moments that the founders, a diverse group with backgrounds in agriculture, entrepreneurship, and community development, saw an opportunity to bridge the gap between potential and reality.

Each founder brought a unique perspective to the table. Some had witnessed firsthand the struggles of rural communities, while others had experienced the transformative power of innovative agribusiness. They shared a collective vision—a future where the youth were not just recipients of opportunities but architects of their own success within a sustainable agricultural ecosystem.

The decision to establish an NGO was born out of a commitment to address the multifaceted challenges facing the youth. The founders believed that by combining their expertise and passion, they could create an organization that went beyond charity—it could be a catalyst for lasting change.

After months of meticulous planning, strategic brainstorming sessions, and drawing inspiration from successful models around the world, Grow Africa Futures emerged as a beacon of hope. The focus areas were carefully chosen to address the root causes of challenges: innovation and entrepreneurship to stimulate economic growth, training and skill development to empower the youth, networking and collaboration to create a supportive ecosystem, environmental sustainability to ensure the future of agriculture, and access to resources and markets to break down barriers hindering progress.

With agribusiness as the central theme, Grow Africa Futures was established to build all-round entrepreneurs capable of not only transforming their own lives but also revolutionizing the agricultural sector. The founders believed that by investing in the youth, they could unlock a wave of positive change, solving unemployment, fostering food security, and ensuring the sustainability of Kenya’s agriculture.

As Grow Africa Futures takes its first steps, our goal is that it becomes more than an organization; it becomes a movement.
